Malaysia News Highlights : 26th June 15

  • Indonesia's Rajawali Group said yestersday it would want to hold at least 21% of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd if the Malaysian firm decides to seek a controlling stake in Rajawali unit PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk.

  • Heng Huat Resources Group Bhd is investing RM35 million in capital expenditure (capex) to build a new oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) fibre manufacturing facility in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

  • Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV)'s proposed acquisition of a 37% non-controlling

  • equity stake in Eagle High Plantations (EHP) for US$680 million (RM2.6 billion) is deemed a steep price to pay and can result in dilution of the group's earnings.

  • Malaysia share prices opened higher on Monday with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index up 1.89 points to 1,723.66.

  • A consortium comprising Gamuda Bhd, Evia Real Estate (7) Pte Ltd and Maxdin Pte Ltd has placed a tender worth S$345.86 million (RM962.5million) to potentially develop a 99-year leasehold plot of land in Toa Payoh, Singapore.

  •  KNM Group Bhd's wholly-owned unit, Splendid Investments Ltd, is setting up a multicurrency medium-term note programme of an initial size of up to S$300 million (RM838.8 million).

  • Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has received a letter of invitation from the Energy Commission (EC) to submit its proposal pertaining to the takeover of 1Malaysia Development Bhd's (1MDB) 70% stake in the RM11 billion Jimah East (Project 3B) coal power plant.

  • Malaysia share prices opened higher on Friday with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index up 2.06 points to 1743.16.

  • Malakoff Corp Bhd's 1,000 megawatt (MW) Tanjung Bin Energy (T4) coal-fired power plant is on track to start operations on March 1, 2016 after its boiler successfully ignited using fuel oil on May 31, 2015.

  • Malaysian palm oil futures ended higher on Thursday in anticipation the ringgit will continue to retreat and on market talk the world's biggest edible oil consumer India will ramp up purchases of refined palm oil.
